'Living in the city, surrounded by concrete and glass, metal and tarmac, bricks and cement, we like to think that we live in an exclusive domain. That other world we call nature; organic, natural, is some how separate from our own. Beyond the barriers and codes we use to police ourselves.
Insects, birds and animals discreetly find a way into the rifts and spaces we overlook, adapting themselves to our carefuly constucted totality, quietly making their lives amongst us in the ragged margins and deeper shadows'.
Elizabeth is interested in this other world; where animals meet the manmade: Painting mass-produced objects side by side with these small creatures on panels of gold leaf as if they were religious icons question the things we might consider insignificant, so that we might revaluate that which is transitory, neglected, fragile or overlooked.
