Nami Takahashi

Overview

Nami Takahashi, born in 1963, is based in Tokyo. She graduated from Musashino Art University in 1997 and later went on to study at the National School of Ceramic Art in Faenza, Italy. She has an impressive solo and group exhibition history in Europe, the United States, China and throughout Japan. Her ceramics can be found in public collections both in Italy and Japan. 
 
She has been awarded a range of accolades. Of note, the Asahi Contemporary Craft Design Award in 2003 and the Young Artist Award at the 63rd Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition in 2016. She mainly produces white porcelain works with undulating lines carved into the vessels. Her artistic expression is informed by the beauty of natural forms, for example the fruits and seeds of plants.
