Sayaka Oishi

Overview

Sayaka Oishi (b.1980) is from Kyoto, Japan. She obtained her BFA in Ceramics from the Kyoto City University of Arts in 2004. Her ceramics have been shown both nationally and internationally as well as feature in collections throughout Japan, South Korea and the US. She has been both nominated for and awarded numerous prizes. Oishi san was also a guest lecturer at the Kyoto City University in 2016 and also Aichi University of Arts in 2019. 
 
The central subject of her work she describes as ‘decoration’, which she understands helps her to express complicated emotions. Her style typically sees the intermingling of parts of the human body, plants, animals and also inorganics.
