Marie Boyle

Overview

Taking inspiration from her daily observations, Marie's abstract compositions focus on the relationship between shape, colour and texture within a chosen space. Having grown up with a father who had a keen interest in archaeology and art, her childhood was spent surrounded by objects of interest from his collection. From an early age she found herself drawn to 'Primitive' art, for the seemingly simple yet sophisitated and succesful use of line and form, the inspiration of which can be noted in her own practice today.

Marie was born in France 1966,
Studied graphic design in Paris (E.S.A.M). Worked in advertising for a time before moving to Oxford.
She took up painting under the tuition of Prue Pardue RA, and the St Ives school of Art.
She also has a strong interest in photography and ceramics
