Across Japan eight families are preparing and firing work for this important exhibition exploring Japanese family ceramic legacies. This exhibition will serve as an important opportunity to learn about family ceramic legacies in Japan, commonalities and diversions from tradition and relationships between father and son in terms of both preserving and taking forward the family name. This exhibition of work will be online and in gallery. It has been curated with the help of our very good friend and highly respected American ceramic artist Robert Fornell.

Robert Fornell - A Headline Collection of New Work
We first had the pleasure of showing Robert Fornell’s incredible work back in 2019. It was an immediate hit with our clients looking for work of highly distinguished quality, form and intent. Little did we know then that this initial collection of work would lead to such a strong professional and personal connection to the maker himself, someone we now think of as good a friend as much as a represented artist. Since that initial showing in 2019 Robert’s work has always been greeted with enormous enthusiasm by our clients with them adding his pieces to their collections world wide and always enquiring as to when the next collection of works might arrive with us. So we are delighted to announce a major collection of new works, some 70 in total, will be exhibited with the gallery from September 3rd 2021. In this new collection we see Rob continuing to embrace many Japanese forms and aesthetics across an exciting repertoire of work, each bursting with the considered but naturally flowing artistic attitude he brings to his process. With many new directions being followed, this carefully selected and curated offering of work comes from a year of making and firing and we are delighted beyond words to be staging his largest collection of work ever assembled in the UK. The new collection will be made available online on Friday September 3rd 2021 at 7pm BST and in gallery from Saturday September 4th 2021.
