Osamu Inayoshi - Earth Spirit

This autumn, The Stratford Gallery presents Earth Spirit, a landmark solo exhibition by Japanese ceramic artist Osamu Inayoshi.

Inayoshi’s work spans bold contemporary expression and the rare revival of Atsumiyaki—a ceramic tradition last practiced over 700 years ago. Guided by a profound connection to his ancestors, he has twice attempted to rebuild the ancient underground Atsumiyaki kiln from archaeological ruins, seeking to channel the same fire and earth that shaped the vessels of the distant past.

The works in Earth Spirit speak with the authority of history and the vitality of modern vision—ceramics that are not only made, but summoned from deep time.

The exhibition will launch online at 7pm GMT on Friday 31st October 2025

The exhibition will open in the gallery at 2pm on Saturday 1st November 2025.  Osamu Inayoshi will attend the opening in the gallery.
