Born in 1967 in the former East German city, then named Karl-Marx-Stadt, now Chemnitz, Simone pursued a career as an illustrator before discovering the possibilities of ceramics in 1995. Initially self taught in this area she soon apprenticed to noted ceramic artists including Doris Kreiß, Markus Klausmann and Peter Tauscher. Having gained this experience she went on to obtain further formal training at Chemnitz Academy of Design between 2007-2011.
Since then she has built her own studio, won several design awards and worked as visiting lecturer at Chemnitz Academy of Design.
