Maki's work explores the allure, fragility and translucence of glass ware. Her painstaking process seeks to push the limits of the materials to produce work that is centred around the principle of Wabi-Sabi, the beauty of imperfection. Her hand made process is difficult and time consuming, each piece double cast to produce a light and translucent vessel existing purely for it's aesthetic appeal. The pitted, organic surfaces lightly blushed with colour and marks of process result in works that are restrained, confident and everlastingly interesting.
