Working from Iga, Kazuko Hasu has developed a ceramic language that is thoughtful, contemporary and entirely her own. Although many collectors first encounter the Hasu name through the work of her husband, Yoshitaka Hasu, it quickly becomes apparent that Kazuko's artistic voice follows a distinctly independent path.

Her ceramics explore the possibilities of contemporary form and colour whilst remaining deeply rooted in the character of Iga clay. Rather than relying solely upon the dramatic effects often associated with wood firing, her work demonstrates a carefully considered balance between design, function and surface, producing vessels that feel both modern and deeply connected to Japan's ceramic traditions.

We are especially drawn to artists who possess the confidence to develop an individual voice whilst remaining respectful of the traditions that shaped them. Kazuko Hasu exemplifies precisely that balance, and we are delighted to introduce her work to collectors beyond Japan.
