Janet Stahelin Edmondson is a Cotswolds based ceramic artist whose practice is concerned with the materiality of porcelain. Her restrained and elegant forms are hand built with an emphasis on each piece displaying the interaction it has had with the maker during construction.
The surfaces of her pieces are decorated with the impressions of lace samples most of which are antique vintage fragments made by her Grandfather's lace company in Switzerland in the last century. It was her exposure from a young age to the material lace that has resulted in her particular artistic style. Ultimately, her ceramic vessels are a preservation of historical craft within her own contemporary craft.
