Yamada san was born into a pottery legacy in 1979 in Echizen, Fukui prefecture, the second son of renowned master potter Kazu Yamada.  

A 2002 graduate of the arts university in Osaka, Yamada san quickly established himself a ceramic artist destined for great things,  His first solo show in Japan in 2008 quickly cemented his status as a rising star in the ceramics scene.

The high iron content of Echizen clay is higly fire resistant, ideal for natufal wood firing and and ash glazing resluts,  Echizen is part of the ancient six kiln sites of Japan and work from this region is highly regarded for it's authenticity and deep Japanese aesthetic.  This is his first exhibition of work in the United Kingdom.
