Anthony grew up in the Pacific Northwest of the USA, and began studying ceramics in 2001. In 2004 he travelled to Turkey as part of a ceramic exchange and symposium which had a huge impact on both his work and his life.
After travelling to historical ceramic centres throughout Asia, he became heavily influenced by Japanese, Korean and Chinese Ceramics.
While he continues to work with gas and electric kilns, after his travels he was instantly captured and intrigued by wood firing and the results from unglazed and fully glazed wood fired pots. He creates functional forms alongside objects of ritual and ceremony. The works that we hold by him are all wood fired with delightful results from a special firing in the Summer of 2019.
Anthony has exhibited internationally and conducted workshops in China and South Korea. He was awarded a prize at the 6th Ceramics Symposium and International Art Exchange in Turkey. The Stratford Gallery was delighted to debut Anthony's work in the UK at their Sake Ware exhibition in 2019.
